It was so beautiful this past weekend, I think in the 70's. I spent Saturday at the Mannings, this huge yarn store in East Berlin, PA, with my Stitch N' Bitch group. We had a lot of fun, but then we always do when we're together. We had lunch at this little BBQ place called Hog Wild. They had this big old metal smoker BBQ out front, smoking away, filling the neighborhood with this mouth watering scent. That afternoon there were knitters (us) and biker dudes (them) happily munching away together, a very curious sight indeed, considering Kate had her spindle out and was busily spinning her roving. I had the smoked pork with home made french fries and cole slaw. It was soooo good and good size portions, Nancy had to help me by finishing my fries and slaw! They also had home made lemon ade, this place was unbelievable. The prices were reasonable also, but they did only take cash. Poor Casey and Tracey had to walk to the Rutters for the ATM machine, Chris had to go pick them up to bring them back. Tracey is afterall pretty preggers.
I'd gotten some knitting done but realized I'd read the pattern wrong so ended up having to frog it all the way down to the cuff. Oh well, just that much more to knit again! Donna Lou loved the stuff I knitted for her, I'm so glad.
I was pretty tired when I got home Saturday night so just fed the pups and sat outside with them for a wee bit while I did some laundry. It was dry by the time I was ready to crash into bed. There's nothing I love better than crawling into bed with freshly laundered clean sheets that have been hanging outside to dry. Hmmmmmmmmm, love that fresh sheets smell.
Sunday I got up early and went hiking in Caledonia with my niece Tara. She showed me the easy Rambling Trail. Well, after climbing over fallen trees, mucking through the mud and hiking a little over two miles, I was pooped! My new off road sneakers worked very well. Cuddos to the salesman that sold them to me. Hiking boots are just so stiff, these had like a bar insert to stablize your foot with comfort though, very nice. After the hike, I popped home to let the pups out again and get my ironing done. I went to pick Tara and her son Owen up and off to my sister Peg's we went for dinner. They were having a delayed St. Paddys dinner since Trev was out of state that day due to work. Hey, I'm all for having it twice, yummers.
So, Peg, myself and Peg's daughters Tara and Didsy played scrabble outside on the deck while Trev slaved away in the kitchen. How does she do that? Get her man to cook and slave over a hot oven after he's been away all week working?? Must learn her secret. I can't seem to keep a relationship going well after ten years. Both my relationships went sour after ten years, hmmm, is it me? Other's I've asked say no but it seems a big coincidence to me. Anyhoo, the only problem is, when Peg says dinner at 5, it means you don't eat until after 7! I'd told her I don't like to drive at night because I still have problems seeing. So sometime after 8, I finally get Tara and Owie back into my car (after Peg & Tara had a huge fight, thank you very much) and head home. I take it slow and still went right past their street. So I had to go the long way around but did get them home safe and sound.
I finally get home around 8:30 to find that roomie hasn't been home all day and the poor puppies are ready to explode. I quickly get them out, appologizing to them and promising them I will never rely on him again. I mean, they're his dogs for crying out loud. He neglects everything to work on that friggin vette. Granted it's nice and would be nice to tool around in but give me a break already! Guys and their toys. You don't see me neglecting the pups cause I'm in a knitting frenzy! lol, wouldn't that be a sight. I'll probably end up in a nursing home, singing to myself, knitting away, oblivious to the world around me. Ugh, who am I kidding, I don't want to end up in a nursing home. I don't want to live long enough that I can't take care of myself or do things for myself. That is NOT living, you know?
So, I'm coming into the home stretch, hopefully, on getting my $2050.00 back from my eye surgery. Did I mention before that Dr. Killmore did one eye then threatened that if I didn't pay up for the Toric lenses, he wouldn't do the other eye? Since the lenses are covered by my insurance, they were suppose to pay him then he would reimburse me. Well I can't get reimbursed if the idiot in his office doesn't submit it correctly. So they are finally sending him the checks and he is suppose to then reimburse me. We'll see how smoothly this goes...
This Monday started out rainy and grey, now it's just grey. Suppose to storm tomorrow, I hope not too badly as I have Stitch N' Bitch tomorrow night. Tried to call the hair salon to make an appointment to have my hairs trimmed and layered but they're closed on Mondays, will have to call back tomorrow. Think I'll treat myself and throw in a upper lip and chin wax. I don't know what it is about getting old, you stop growing hair on your legs and armpits (well I did anyways) and you get it growing on your upper lip and chin, what's up with that????? lol
The gem and mineral show is this weekend at the Shalom school in Marion. Want to try and get over there. Other than that, well besides the hiking, I don't have anything planned. I hope the weather cooperates, think I'll just taker er easy. Oh crap, it's my weekend to clean Mr. M's house. I hope he hasn't mucked it up too much, I don't think I could live with someone that messy, yuck!
Guess I'll close for now.... take care all.....
